The Low Anthem live are a fascinating act to watch, complementing their stunning psychedelic-folk music with the use of light and shadows to great effect. Their show at Brighton Komedia was one of the most challenging gigs to photograph that I’ve been to – the distance between artist and crowd could be measured in millimetres, pulling the audience deeper into their world. The first ten minutes of the show were in near complete darkness, with ambient nature sounds being played while Florence did a spoken-word into at the same time as using a vintage typewriter. It was that kind of show – beautiful, bewitching and totally captivating. Ably supported by the new wave/indie rock band And The Kids, this was a stunning and unforgettably intimate night.
Many thanks to Lout Promotions for another great show.
